Ai Weiwei has dismissed the Hayward Gallery's exhibition Art of Change: New Directions from China, comparing it to "a restaurant in Chinatown. "It is simply a consumerist offering" he wrote in the Guardian, "providing little in the way of genuine experience of life in China today".
