On 1 August Starkwhite staged an event with Artspace, which was part of
Whakamaui: Recovery Positions, a series of installations and events proposed by artist and academic Mark Harvey in collaboration with others that consider cultural and political tensions and disunity contextualised by the work of Guy Ngan.

The Starkwhite event was a collaboration between Harvey and artist Adrienne Wong who recreated the signage of her family's grocery business on our window (her family's business was located in the space adjacent to Starkwhite) as a setting for a talk on their family history and the challenges faced by Chinese New Zealanders
